I read this today in Martin Avis' lovely newsletter, 'Kickstart Daily' - and it touched me deeply for a moment.... so I'd like to share it with you.
The 7 Wonders of the World
A group of Geography students studied the Seven Wonders
of the World. At the end of that section, the students
were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven
Wonders of the World.
Though there was some disagreement, the following got
the most votes:
1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter's Basilica
7. China's Great Wall
While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one
student, a quiet girl, hadn't turned in her paper yet.
So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with
her list.
The quiet girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't
quite make up my mind because there were so many."
The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and
maybe we can help."
The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the Seven
Wonders of the World are
1. to touch
2. to taste
3. to see
4. to hear
She hesitated a little, and then
5. to run
6. to laugh
7. and to love
I think she's right!
Today was 'Operation #12' of the CHD Project sponsored by the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation - the accomplishment fired by a hope and a dream around 6 years back. (See details in this report - click here to download)
The little 5-year old girl, born with a hole in her heart, is now recovering nicely in Intensive care. Her family could not afford to pay for the expensive operation - but some wonderful folks across the globe did.
Yesterday, for five hours, I visited several surgical supply stores - and told the owners a story about the way the CHD Project was conceived and has grown. To my astonishment and delight, every one of them instantly slashed the prices on costly consumables, letting us buy them at cost-price!
When you understand how the usual markup is between 25% and 250%, you'll see how big a favor this is. As I staggered home, bone-weary but happy, and totted up the figures, I was floored to see that this simple effort has lowered our budget for disposable items by 33%
That's a saving of almost 10% on the cost of the entire operation!
Personally, I hate bargain-hunting - have always thought it a waste of my time. But when it comes to handling funds contributed by generous donors and ensure it has the biggest impact, I'm willing to do anything.
And looking back, I'm glad about investing the 5 hours yesterday - because over the coming years, we'll be able to fund many more operations simply by lowering our costs!
Are YOU making your best effort to maximize your impact by lowering (or controlling and effectively managing) your costs?
Are YOU willing to go out of your comfort zone and do things you wouldn't normally think of doing, because of your passion for what you do?
Are YOU making progress - and feeling happy about where you're heading?
I urge you to try it. It's a nice feeling :)
...Niche marketing probably isn't for you!"
That's what I said in my testimonial to John 'Turbo'
Delavera after reviewing his new niche marketing
pack, 'Turbo Niches'
For years I've taught niche marketing, and the fine
nuances of dominating popular niches and exploiting
them. As a critical part of my coaching, I list the
elements a marketer needs to have before entering
a niche and become a 'player'.
John's 'Turbo Niches' package includes every single
element a niche marketer needs - and then some.
Not just once, but 7 times over!
While I've just skimmed the preview copies of the
ebooks, the 'Water Garden' report caught my
daughter's imagination - and we're planning to
create our own water garden as her summer project.
Yes, that's how captivating the content in this
book was... great stuff.
It makes me wonder - if anyone gets this package,
invests enough time and effort in promoting it,
and doesn't make a good profit from it... well,
maybe niche marketing just isn't the thing for
you!
