Dental Costs : Root Canal Treatment

Dental Costs For Root Canals

Root canals treatment cost vary from $350-$600 for the front tooth and much more for the back tooth. The root canal treatment for the teeth at the back can set you back by almost $600 to $900 per tooth. Again these figures are an rough estimate and it can vary based on location and the specific type of treatment that you might require.

Basically root canal treatment is a two step process where the the interior of the tooth is first cleared of bacteria, debris and other irritants that can cause inflammation of the teeth. Dental Implant continued...

ุ The healing period is three months, if the implant is placed in the lower jaw.
ุ The healing period is six months, if the implant is placed in the upper jaw.
ุ A second surgical procedure is performed, once the wound gets healed.
ุ The cover screw is taken and a healing abutment or a temporary crown is placed in the implant.
ุ The tissue around the implant grows around the final prosthetics tooth.
ุ The abutment or the crown fosters the growth of the tissue.
ุ Sometimes a gold cylinder is attached to the prosthetic tooth and the cylinder is cemented or screwed to the crown or abutment.
Excellent stability of the final implant is achieved, when the two surgical procedures are separated by a healing period. Whereas a process in which both the surgical procedures are done without any separation of healing period provides lesser stability.

Veneers - How long do they last?

Veneers if done properly should last 10 years are more. The teeth have to be prepared properly for the veneer to sit properly on your teeth. Next the bonding between the teeth and veneer should be done correctly. If the bonding is not done well then a lot of problems like veneer falling off, spaces between teeth and veneer, staining at edges of veneer can all happen. The process of bonding teeth with veneer is very sensitive procedure and needs to be done by expert dentists with care, precision and finesse. Lacking these qualities can mean problematic dental veneers.

Dental Plans : Dental Plans And Dental Insurance For Braces

There are a number of different dental insurance programs from which to choose, and selecting the Dental Plans to suit your situation can be challenging. There are discount plans, traditional plans, Dental Health Maintenance Organizations, and sub-categories within this list. How to know where to start?

Begin by deciding the type of coverage you'll need. Dental Plans is most often an extension of your health insurance plan. Whatever you choose should be compatible with your medical insurance without overlapping the coverage. There is no need to be paying twice for the same thing.

On the other hand, make sure that your supplemental dental coverage provides you with all the features you'll need. Most plans take care of routine visits and cleanings, but some are more comprehensive than others. You'll pay more for increased services, but if this is something that you want and will use, the added costs may be well worthwhile.

Dental Crowns Costs

How much do dental crowns cost?

Dental crowns are of different types. Some are made with precious metals like gold and cost more. Others like porcelain-metal crowns cost less. Again the costs vary from State to State and from big city to small town, dentists, dentist's experience and so on. So what we are presenting here is a very rough estimate that you can use as sort of guide.

Dental Crown For single tooth: The porcelain-fused metal dental crown costs any where between $580.00 - $860.00. While a dental crown made of gold costs around from $600.00 - $1050.00. As mentioned earlier these figures are just rough estimates and will vary from city to city based on the cost of living index and many other factors.

If you have dental insurance or a dental discount plan you can check with your dental coverage provider about the cost of an average crown and how much of the cost will be borne by the dental coverage company.

Dental Implant Procedure

Dental implants is a relatively new technique in the field of dentistry and consists of series of steps to help replace missing tooth. The procedure is the same whether one or many teeth need replacing.

First, to be dental implant candidate you need to have healthy gums and jaws and good overal oral health. You should also enjoy generally good over all health and be able to face the stress of minor surgery.

Assuming you are healthy your dentist will then assess your oral health. If you have condition that needs to be treated then you will put on treatment plan to prepare you for dental implant.

Once you are assessed as a fit candidate for dental implant procedure - the implant site will be prepared. The gum at the site will be opened and the bone underneath studied to check whether it if fit enough to support the implant. If the bone is not in good shape then bone grafting may be undertaken to establish healthy bone structure.

After the bone has firmly established it is drilled to receive the dental implant.

Next the implant is placed in the drilled bone and gums tissue are sutured.

You will experience slight discomfort and pain for a few days and then it should be fine unless there are some complication. Sutures will be removed in a week or two.

Nature's healing process takes over and your bone and gums are left to heal and the implant will slowly become a part of your gums with the growth of tissue around it. This healing process also called as osseointegration.

After the gums have healed a special post or support is added to the implant. This post will act as support to the porcelain crown that will later be placed on the post.

The last step is the placement of the Crown. The crown is made after considering your existing teeth color and to fit into the missing space left by your earlier tooth.

This process may take several sittings to make the crown as closely match your own teeth as possible. Finally a prosthetic crown will be placed and dental implant is complete.

Mini Dental Implants To Rescue Of Dentures

Not all people who wear dentures feel fully comfortable with their artificial tooth set. Most common problems associated with dentures include slippage, discomfort, difficulty in eating, smiling, biting, pain, clicking and so on.

Dentures are made to suit your jaws but over time the lack of teeth leads to the deterioration of the bone structure of your jaws. The result is ofcourse the dentures no longer fit as they did before.

People do not have to suffer this kind of problems any more. A new technique called single day implants helps to stabilize the lower dentures by anchoring them into place in your lower jaw using mini dental implants.

The procedure is simple and can be done in less than a day. The results can also amaze the wearer of dentures - they can laugh, smile, eat and bite like normal people.

The Risk Of Dental Implants

Dental Implants can cost thousands of dollars and not completely risk free. As dental implants involve surgery there is the risk that your dental implant may be rejected or the dental implant might not be fully integrated with your gums. If you are going for multiple implants then the process might take upto 2 years or more. The side effects of surgery itself like swelling and pain will go away in a couple of days and can be treated with analgesics. If the pain persists beyond 3-4 days and check out with your dentists if your wound is healing properly and there is no risk of infection.

Implants are a major investment and not without risk. The extensive use of implants can cost tens of thousands of dollars to achieve a great result. It is also a very time consuming procedure when having many implants placed. As this procedure is surgery, it is very important to research and find a well credited cosmetic dentist that you are comfortable with. For some people there are varying degrees discomfort or pain, which subsides in a couple of days. As with similar types of surgery, bruising and minor swelling might also develop shortly after the procedure. The crown (false tooth placed on top) will need to be replaced in ten to fifteen years.
