The Great Debate On "Individual Dental Insurance: Is It Worth It?" Voices Of The People Part 1

There are different points of view on owning individual dental insurance. The different opinions are largely a result of people's own experiences, the information they have and their own perceptions. A recently conducted survey among readers of a popular forum revealed some interesting answers on the question of "individual dental insurance: Is it worth it?"

Individual Dental Insurance: Listen To The Voices of the Naysayers And The Reluctant Supporters

Dental insurance is really not worth it. Over the course of year you pay in premiums what they payout in year if you have any dental problems. Those guys with no dental problems actually are just making the dental insurance companies rich. Don't pay for any dental insurance if you can afford the treatment yourself.

Another reader suggests : Start a dental account and every month deposit what you would pay the dental insurance company in premiums into this account. Don't touch this amount and keep it aside only for dental emergencies. Dental treatment for some procedures cost quite a lot. So, all that money will be needed one day for your dentures, implants, broken tooth or your children's braces.

One angry lady says: I pay the premiums, I pay the minimum deductible and co-pays - what does the individual dental insurance pay? Just a percentage of the cost. What's more some procedures are not covered at all and for some you have to wait like forever(okay, 18 months.) They hide behind their terms and conditions, rule books and benefits booklets. Me, I no longer want to pay their fat salaries for them. I am going to pay for my own treatment. I found a great dentist and we have struck a deal. No more individual dental insurance for me.

A dental student says. I can't afford the premiums on the individual dental insurance. But that's only a incentive to keep my teeth extra clean. I brush regularly after every meal, floss every day and visit my parent's dentist once in 6 months. For payments that is less than premium I get a regular checkup and cleanings done. That's all I need for now

Yeah, when I can afford it I will probably get dental insurance. But right now I don't have that option.

Another reader says: I know it is stupid to pay a dental insurance company the premiums when all I'll get back in a year is maybe the amount I paid and little more if I need it but it's gives me a peace of mind in the night to know that I am protected in case of an dental emergency.

A young couple have this to say: You know what, we lack the discipline to save for our dental treatments so the family dental insurance. We know it costs quite a bit and it did occur to us that we could save the same amount we pay in premiums and pay for our own treatment costs. But we will never put away that 50 dollars in the bank.

We will find something nice to buy with the money! But when we the pay the premiums we don't have that luxury. It's gone but we know when we need dental treatment we will atleast get the treatment we need and part of the costs paid off through our dental insurance plan.

Today, you heard some voices on the individual dental insurance debate. Tomorrow, I am going to continue with some more. So keep reading.

The great debate on "Individual Dental Insurance: Is It Worth It?" Voices Of The People Will Contine Tomorrow.
