Do you need dental insurance?

Nobody ever questions whether we need health insurance. It's considered routine to have one. Same with car insurance and home insurance and life insurance. Those are considered essentials.

Not many insure again natural calamities, fire, theft. As these are remote occurrences. But once the event has occured you feel like a fool for not having insured. Same with dental insurance, until you have major dental problems you don't feel the need for it.

But major dental problems can mean hefty dental fees and treatment costs running into thousands of dollars.

Routine dental visits could cost upto 200 dollars per visit. If you do it twice a year that is 400 dollars. Most dental insurance premiums are much less than that and usually cover preventive treatment like regular dental check-ups, cleaninings etc completely. But how many of us with no dental cover visit the dentist voluntarily when we don't have any major dental problem.

Having dental insurance ensures that we atleast make those regular trips to the dentist which can catch major problems early and treat it. But if you don't qualify for one you can atleast take advantage of a dental discount plan and discounts on all your treatment charges.
