Join the MINI-Blogathon - 2007

What's the MINI-Blogathon?

It's a smaller version of my annual 24-hour day and night blogging marathon, the 'Heart Kids Blogathon' that I'm doing for the 5th consecutive year on September 15th.

Here's what you'll do -

  • At any time during the 24-hour period of the Heart Kids Blogathon, you can join the fun.
  • All you need is your own blog, and 4 hours of time to spare.
  • You'll post a short note to your blog (on any topic of your choice) EVERY 30 MINUTES - and do it for 4 consecutive hours.
There are a few other minor issues, but that's it in a nutshell. And to guide you in case you are absolutely unfamiliar about what a blogathon is, I'll give you a copy of my e-booklet,

"How To Run Your Own Wildly Successful Blog Marathon
- And Start Making A Difference In The World...Today!"

What must you do to join the MINI-blogathon on September 15th, 2007 ?

#1 - Clear your calendar or re-arrange your schedule to keep 4 hours free on September 15th, 2007 - any time is fine.

#2 - Email me to confirm your participation - I'll need a few details like your name, email address, blog address (if you have one ready) and the proposed topic of the posts you'll publish during the MINI-blogathon.

Send your email to Dr.Mani at this email address:

info @ ezinemarketingcenter.com

I'll send you more details about the event and your copy of the e-booklet as soon as you register.

Looking forward to having fun during the Heart Kids Blogathon - and helping you with your own MINI-blogathon - on September 15th.

See you then.

Ranjith Kumar operated on Sunday

Little Ranjith Kumar is 7 years old, a shy, playful youngster with a sparkling smile. Today, even though he's recovering from major surgery, that smile is a bit wider, brighter.

Yesterday, Ranjith became the 16th child to have surgery for a heart birth defect - an Atrial Septal Defect - sponsored by the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation.

In a heart-warming gesture, his father raised (with great personal difficulty) the sum of Rs.10,000 and offered it as a part contribution to the cost of treatment. He insisted on doing it, as his way of showing appreciation and gratitude to the hundreds of donors who pitched in to make expensive treatment accessible to his son.

What's so great about it? He earns a paltry Rs.1,200 per month, working as hired labor on a piece of land he cultivates for the owner!

Today, however, he's smiling too - thanks to you.

The Heart Kids Blogathon 2006 - Success Story #1

On October 1st, we performed the first operation after the Heart Kids Blogathon, funded by your contributions.

Meet this little girl...

8 year old Rajeswari studies in 4th grade and had a hole in her heart called an Atrial Septal Defect.

Her father, the sole earning member of her family, is a bus driver on an inter-city route in South India. With a family income of around Rs.1,300 a month (approx. US $30), they had put off her surgery which would cost Rs.110,000.

Rajeswari gamely struggled along. Her lungs were flooded with extra blood. She suffered frequent chest infections. She was not able to play for long, stopping when she became breathless.

Her operation went off smoothly, the 25 mm. hole closed completely. 8 days later, the smiling little girl waved goodbye and set off to her hometown.

When I showed my wife (who is an engineer) the photographs of the chest xrays before and after surgery (below), even she was able to appreciate the remarkable reduction in the size of her heart once the hole had been closed.

In the weeks ahead, we will be carrying out many more operations like this - all made possible thanks to your wonderful support and encouragement.

Once again, I thank you from the heart for the lives you are helping our team save.
