Is This Why John Reese Is A Testing Freak?!
I first got serious about using my home page as a name capture
site after viewing Traffic Secrets. Had some good results.

However, since April 25th when I implemented this change, I've
grown my opt-in list by 1,025 subscribers.
Which is nice - until looking at the number of page views this
page has been receiving in the same time...
Almost 20,000 A MONTH!
That's a really poor average 1% opt-in rate for a free offer.
I had tried different variations with not too hot response -
though for a while it was up to 23% (not sure how)
Then, last night, I decided to do something different. I put
a sales letter on the homepage, instead of the name capture
page. It was one of the good letters that converted around 3%
of visitors to customers.

Today morning, I found that had generated THREE sales - for a
$5/month membership ($60 a year, if the subscriber stays on)!
And that's a lead-in product, with many backends.
One change had brought in potentially $180 in a year.
Testing. No wonder it's John Reese's mantra :)
