Internet marketing strategy is, in general, misunderstood. Some folks would call a sequence of tactics a “strategy” – while others use the term to refer to merely simple, straightforward tactics masquerading as ‘secrets’ or ‘systems’.
The key difference between strategic Internet marketing and being purely tactical is in the results one can accomplish even while going head to head against the toughest competition. Tactical marketing works in a few select market niches, where no one else is playing. Strategic Internet marketing can knock out any competition, no matter how well heeled or deeply entrenched.
A strategy can often sound unconventional, irrational or even frankly insane – to someone not in the know. Viewed from a purely tactical standpoint, some actions of a strategy-driven Internet marketer won’t make much sense. But like a good magician, once you draw aside the curtain and peek behind the scenes, you’ll see the power and impact of strategic Internet marketing.
