Targeted Internet marketing is a term that describes a strategic approach to attract the most ideal prospects or customers through your advertising or online marketing.
In a sense, all online marketing is targeted to the extent that it is aimed at a certain audience. Regardless of how broad that audience is, the marketing is targeted towards it. Where targeted Internet marketing becomes intelligent is when it transcends the obvious demographic data like age, gender, geographic location or income, and selects its target audience on the basis of the more powerful psychographic elements.
- What are my best prospects passionate about?
- What do they care for and about?
- Why are they seeking out my product or service?
- What about my business makes them value it more?
- What emotions and desires might attract them to a product like mine?
- How badly do they want it, and what will they give up for it?
Getting under the skin of your top prospects, tapping into their brains, figuring out their deepest motivations and ambitions, and then seeing how your product or service taps into them can be at the core of a targeted Internet marketing approach.
Done correctly, this approach will be able to convert a high percentage of prospects into buyers, and do it more effortlessly. After all, when you understand what drives your prospects to take action, marketing becomes only a question of placing the offer in front of them.
