In your home business, one of the primary activities is to generate new leads. Prospects who may be interested in what you offer and buy what you’re selling. It is an activity that occupies many home business owners for most of their working day.
The nice thing about running an Internet business is that this process can be automated. With a good ‘landing page’ that makes a compelling case to register for more information (probably with the added incentive of an ethical bribe), you could drive traffic and get leads coming in every day.
But the super-smart home business owners go a step further.
Double Your Results With Tiny Tweaks
Imagine this. You drive 100 visitors to your website’s landing page. With a very effective offer, you can get 30 people to register for your email list. But how would you like to turn this into an extra 30 registrations – by throwing in a few twists?
1. Ask for referrals right away.
Once your new subscriber registers to your list, and is redirected to another page on your site, hit them with an invitation to tell a friend about your offer. At least some of them well.
2. Remind them in your welcome email.
The first email that goes out to your new subscribers is the most likely to get read – because they anticipate receiving it. Use that opportunity to remind them to tell their friends about your business.
3. Make your free gift a referral generator.
If you offer a free report or ebook as an incentive to get people to opt-in to your list, encourage readers to pass it along to others – and include an invitation to opt-in to your email list inside the ebook itself.
4. Invite new subscribers to join your affiliate program.
Does your home business offer referral incentives to associates? If you do, then invite your new subscribers to join the program, spread the word about your products and services, and earn a referral fee by doing so.
5. Encourage pass-along of your email newsletter.
Every issue of your email newsletter that is mailed to your email list subscribers should contain a blurb asking them to share it with their friends, publish it on their blog, or distribute in any way they like.
6. Use auto-responder messages to seek referrals.
If you use an email autoresponder to distribute scheduled emails at pre-set intervals, then you can queue up a message asking for referrals to go out after a week or so from the time a new subscriber joins your list.
All of these methods can be pre-programmed so that you, as a home business owner, do not have anything to do with it after set up. Yet as your traffic generating efforts steadily attract new leads, the referral getting system will double the impact by bringing in even more leads – automatically!
