September 29, 200736 Most Influential Internet MarketersInfluence - It is a strange, mysteriously powerful word. It is defined as the capacity or power of persons or things to be a compelling force on or produce effects on the actions, behavior and opinions of others. And that’s why 'influence' goes far beyond words like 'successful', 'rich' or 'popular' - or even 'notorious'. To me, personally, there is an ethical dimension to this word. I distinguish it from 'manipulation' or 'coercion' or 'mass hypnosis'. I know there are people with larger or more loyal followers than the ones I listed - but don’t think that stems from 'influence' (the way I describe it). So who are these INFLUENTIAL Internet marketers? I've split up the list into 4 parts. Part 1 of "36 Influential Internet Marketers" is here Part 2 of "36 Internet Marketers With Influence" is here Part 1 of "36 Most Influential Internet Marketers" is here Part 1 of "36 Internet Marketers With Most Influence" is here September 17, 2007After the blogathon...A refreshing 4 hour nap took away most of the weariness of the 24 hour blogging event, and I've been catching up with a lot of things, writing back to donors who contributed so generously, and exchanging notes with many people who, behind the scenes, advised and guided me through various elements of implementation. One interesting email exchange I just had with one of my subscribers prompted this line of thought - how many others think this is what happens?! Arun Agarwal wrote about something else, and in it he mentioned: "You blogged for 24 hours non-stop (I know a lot of it was automated but..." The bolded bit threw me for a loop - because NO PART of the blogathon is automated - and has never been for all the 5 years I've done this event! Look, I know it's easy to pre-load a sequence of posts and have a script set up to auto-blog it on a schedule... but my question to those who think that's what happens is this: What's The Point? As I mentioned on the day before the Heart Kids Blogathon, an event like this that stretches one physically and mentally is, in a sense, a test of one's spirit and committment to a purpose. Each year, during the 24 hours of the blogathon, I'm driven to a high level of peak performance not usually possible - because of the purpose behind the event. NOTHING is done automatically. Sometimes, the posts are drafted in advance, but always tweaked for each half-hourly publication. I'm physically in front of my computer the entire duration, posting to the blog, and following conversations and responding to comments across the blogosphere. A blogathon is a trial of many skills, especially time management, organization, and discipline. Within each 30 minute gap between posts, a blogger must handle a ton of 'real life' activities - like eating, showering, answering phone calls, taking short walks or cat-naps, and even popping out for a quick visit to the neighborhood store (was necessary once before). It's as if one's existence during that 24 hour period is guided by one deadline, and that alone - the time the next post becomes due. Meeting each 'deadline' is a small challenge - and gives me a rush each time I manage to meet it. This year, Twitter was a nice interlude, allowing me to share some thoughts during the event with several others on my contact list. I also drop by forums, and send out email to my list in the course of the day. All this to say that NOTHING IS AUTOMATED. That's the spirit and reason for doing a challenge like the blogathon - to see just how far you can go, just how much you are willing to give (and give up), in the pursuit of a goal or the highlighting of a purpose. It's also why the blogathon leaves me washed out for upto a week after - it's just so gruelling, both physically and mentally. But every time, my spirit emerges re-energized and re-vitalized after being put through the wringer - and winning through! Thank you for your support during the blogathon. I appreciate you, and am grateful to every single donor and sponsor who has ensured at least 6 more children will now get a chance at health and happiness in their future. Tranquil Water Makes You Happy Water can be used creatively to make you feel happy. The sound of water trickling from an indoor fountain can mask traffic noises from outside, and create a serene environment inside your home. The moisture also refreshes the atmosphere of your room. It may also be an idea to hydrate the air in your room by placing a bowl of water on a radiator. You may also introduce extra moisture to your living area by placing vases of flowers, potted plants and a fish tank in your room. The sight and sound of gently trickling water can be very soothing, and calm you down, remove stress and leave you feeling great and happy.

Clean Up & Be Happy Don't let dust build up around the home. The air gets musty and unhealthy. And this depletes your energy, leaving you dull and listless. It's hard to feel positive and happy when all around you everything is a mess. Clean the house regularly to revitalize the atmosphere. Air beds, rugs, carpets and curtains on a sunny day. Clear out cabinets, shelves and cupboards. Vacuum carpets at least once a week. Sweep, wash and polish the floor, wipe down dusty surfaces and dust high corners and pictures. An intense effort to bust the dust will leave your home clean and shiny - and that will evoke a matching brightness in your mind. You'll be happy.
From Warren R. Haskin, "The PIE Diet" The secret to being happy while working at home is to keep positive information in front of you. Most of us encounter problems daily, whether we work at home or in an office, but working at home provides certain problems not experienced by others. Self discipline is a must, but how do we maintain it? The key is keeping our minds thinking forward, not letting the negatives of the world get in our way. How do we do that? By adopting a program seen in "The PIE Diet -Mental Health Food" (www.thePIEdiet.com). It involves feeding our subconscious mind positive input everyday (PIE) to help overcome the negatives that can lower our self-worth. A key to this is actually getting out of ourselves and adopting a "Help People" Attitude. When we are helping others, there is no room for negative thoughts to cloud our mind on how to best do the work at hand. Positive and Negative can not occupy the mind at the same time. Learn how to replace the negative with positive and your life will be much happier, and far more rewarding in all aspects.

Dress Up & Feel HappyWhen you get ready for a special occasion, you feel good about yourself when you're all dressed up and spruced. Your hair's just right, your make-up is perfect, you're looking good - and that feels nice. Now, who says such preparation should be reserved only for when you go out on a date or to a party? Why shouldn't you dress up just because you want to feel good? It may be just another day in your routine life - but if you're wearing pretty lingerie, a new dress, attractive stockings or a nice tie, you look good. And that means you'll feel good. And what's more, you'll come over as happy and confident. This sets a strange cycle of events into play, and you'll see other people respond positively when they see you happy and pleased with yourself - creating a growing loop of positivity and brightness.

Call a Friend - You'll Both Be Happy When you're having a bad day, you'll be tempted to shun company and brood all on your own. But that's not the best way to handle things. Instead, pick up the phone and call a friend. Talk about what's troubling you. When you share your problems with someone else, they immediately appear smaller, easier to manage, not so forbidding. Also, by sharing them with someone who is not so close to it, you'll get valuable fresh insight that may offer a solution you never even considered. You'll see your problem in a different light, enjoy the company of your friend, and who knows... the day may turn out to end on a happier note!

Simple pleasures like walking on the grass barefoot, watching bees gather pollen, standing on the beach watching a sunset as the sound of waves soothes your senses, spending time with family and friends - all are more likely to make you happy. These memories are lasting, meaningful, special. At the end of one's life, very few people have ever said: "I wish I had spent more time at the office!" Take Short Naps & Be Happy Far too many workaholics strain themselves silly through the post-lunch doldrums, fighting against their body's natural drowsiness. The smart ones give in - and take a siesta. Not a long one, but short cat naps for short durations. The best time for a cat nap that'll enhance productivity is between 2 and 4 in the afternoon. Make sure you set your alarm clock to go off in 20 minutes - sleeping too long can leave you drowsier and irritable than if you never slept. Find a comfortable chair, or put a cushion on your desk. Close your eyes, relax, and doze off. You'll wake up feeling fresh, energetic and happy.

Maybe that's why we call wild celebrations 'painting the town red'. Wear a red t-shirt. Wear red lipstick. Or a red cap. Get yourself a bunch of red roses to place on your table. Paint your fingernails red. You can even pick a red cushion for your chair - and experience a mood high. Since colors influence the way you feel, here's some more information you can use. Yellow stimulates your mind, blue is relaxing, violet helps stress and anxiety and green is calming and has a tonic effect.

Laughing deepens your breathing and lifts your endorphin ('happy hormone') levels. It also protects you against depression and anger. Finding it hard to laugh without a good reason? Read a funny book or website. Watch a comedy movie. Recall a humorous incident from your past. Imagine it in all glorious detail - and enjoy a hearty chuckle over it. Laughing relaxes your facial muscles, lowers blood pressure and relieves stress. As a very nice side effect, it lightens the mood and makes everyone around you feel better too. From the moment they wake up, right on until you have to force them to bed, a healthy child is full of verve and vigor. Can eating often be the factor that's responsible? Try it. Eat a small snack every few hours. Your metabolism will be more or less constant through the day. Your blood glucose levels will be level, without highs or lows that cause mood swings and stressful responses in your digestive system. What snacks are best? Energy-boosters like almonds, chopped dates, apple, sugar free cereal bars and oat cakes are great. Eat often and feel happy.
From Muahmmad Shariq, "The Secret to Happiness" Part 2" "The Secret to Happiness" Part 1 In part 1 you learned the first half of being happy: Doing what you love. But living in the world we live in - we can't be doing what we love ALL THE TIME. Does that mean we can't be happy all the time?? We CAN! Here's how (and it's the second half of the secret to be happy): I remember standing outside (ready to go to school) at 6:45 am. every morning (back when I was a kid). And seeing a guy cleaning the streets. He used to do it every morning. It was his "job" given by the government. He was wearing dirty clothes. A long brush in one hand.. and a big basket type thinh in the other. And he just kept cleaning the streets as if he's having fun. And whenever I'd say "hi".. he'd always reply with a big teethy smile. I wondered how he could be happy - coz he doesn't earn much. He ain't got a good car or any car for that matter. And he even wore dirty clothes! So one morning I asked him "why are you so happy all the time?" And he said "Because I love cleaning the streets!" Obvious.. eh? But it was really an AH-HA moment in my life. ......... There are many things that you don't like to do. Like going to work everyday, trying to figure out how to put up a website, or heck even working 10 hours a day. But if you can't do what you love - why not love what you do?? "How come can I love what I do when I don't like it?!" - You ask. Because of what you get out of it at the end of the day. I know a guy in his 30's who gets screamed at and insulted every single day by his boss. But he loves his job. You know why? Because what he earns from his job enables him to buy expensive medicines for his mother - who'd probably die without them. So he absolutely enjoys his job and loves every moment of it. That's an extreme example. But you get the point. Even if you don't like sitting on your bum staring at the screen banging your head trying to learn how to ftp a website - love what you're doing! Because once you successfuly do it - you're one step closer to getting what you want (more bucks and more freedom). Frankly I don't like working on my pc 12-14 hours a day. I'd prefer hanging out at the beach with my family. But I still love working so hard - because it helps build me my business. Which will enable me to live the way I want with my family.. in the future. You get me? Anytime you do something that you don't like - just recall the end result. If it's worth it - you'll be instantly more energized and motivated. And if the end result isn't worth it - why the heck are you doing it?! ........ Almost 10 years ago I read this short story in 'Reader's Digest: A son complains to his dad that he doesn't like his work.. His dad says: "Love what you do and you won't have to work a day in your life" These days people equate work as a not-good thing. Ask them what they'll do if they got a billion dollars - and they say "I'd be relaxing all day long doing nothing at all!" They think they'll get away from work to be happy. Because they never realized - if they just do what they love.. or love what they do - they'll be happy that way too! Bill Gates has enough money to do nothing and still live lavishely - 10 lifetimes over. But he still works hard. Tiger woods practices 12 hours a day and loves every bit of it. Donald Trump never takes vaccations because he loves what he does and enjoys it the most. John reese has been awake for the past *41* hours working on his launch. But he's happy. Because he's doing what he loves. Dr.Mani is gonna blog for 24 hours straight. It's gonna hurt his back but he's happy doing so - because at the end of the day he'll raise bucks for his operations. And that's what gives him happiness! So to wrap it up: The secret to happines is doing what you love.. and love what you're doing. If you can't do what you love right now - atleast love what you do. And it's YOUR choice! You can choose to be happy if you want - no matter what you're doing. So stay happy :-) Shariq.

Indulge Yourself & Get Happy Pampering yourself in some small way can make you feel happy. Often, very happy. It doesn't have to be anything big. A little piece of chocolate can make you feel good. Chocolate has a chemical called theobromine that boosts endorphin levels. Dark chocolate is better, because it contains more pure cocoa and less fat and sugar. Moderation is the key - you only need a little bit of chocolate to feel happy!
From Muahmmad Shariq, "The Secret to Happiness" Part 1" "The Secret to Happiness" Part 1 I understood the secret to happiness when I was a kid.. Partially though - coz at that time I thought life equals work. Whether studying in school as a kid.. or growing up to do a job in a company. I thought life's is all about working. Which isn't true.. But is true for the vast majority of people.. Because they believe their quality of life or their happiness depends upon the success of their "work". They think - if they could just become the manager of a big dang company making big bucks - they'll be happy.. But since they aren't the manager - they aren't happy either. So here's what I wrote in my diary when I was 13: "The secret to happiness is doing what you love." Later on it dawned o me that it's just half the secret (I'll reveal the other half in part 2). But it's still a very profound one. Now why did I write that?? Because I realized that when I was watching cartoons or building blocks or taking rides in a park.. I was happy! But when I was studying geography.. or polishing my shoes or cleaning my cupboard.. I didn't feel good or happy. So trying to make sense of it - I realized I was happy when I did something I loved. So I should be doing MORE of what I love to be more happy! Simple isn't it? And you know what? I think I wasn't no genious for figuring it out. MOST of us realized that as kids. That's why we wanted to play more - coz we felt happy doing so. ........ Infact for a VERY little time in my life. Probably between the years when I was a kid and first started thinking - and the time I was brainwashed like everyone else.. I asked myself "What's the point in doing something if it doesn't make you happy?" But as we grew up - we realized we can't just play. Or do what we love. We gotta do what we're "supposed" to be doing - to become happy and successful. Like I had to study geography whether I liked it or not. Why? Coz I had to pass grades and go on to the next one. And why did I have to go to the next one? Because I was told I wouldn't be happy and successful if I didn't study well. Is that true? I'd leave that to you.. so I can finish my point :-) Which is: Find out what you love to do. It can be painting, fishing, rock climbing, relaxing at the beach, spending time with kids, getting a message, taking a day off, buying your kids the toys they want.. and a ton of other things.. And it can even be little things. Like enjoying your favourite dish, hanging out with friends, eating chocolate chips icecream, giving a dollar to a bum, wearing your lucky shirt, etc. Whatever it is - take the time to do it. And you'll be more happy :-) In the hustle and bustle of life you may have even forgotten what you love doing! So give yourself an appointment. Take out some time for your self. And make a note of all the things you love to do. All the things that give you happiness. Now find a way to do them.. and do more often. And you'll be happier than ever before :-) ......... That's ONE half of being happy. (Other half coming up in part 2. Watchout for it) But do just that and you'll be more happy in your life. Try it! And stay happy :-) Shariq. P.S. Watch this lovely video on YouTube (don't be shocked if it's the story of your life)

These drinks give you a quick lift, but doesn't stay in your body for long. As the effect wears off, you need another 'fix'. To keep your mood more constant and happy, move to a decaffeinated drink like herbal teas or water. Herbal teas are available in an amazing range of flavors and varieties. Tea lifts your spirit, revives and invigorates, and calms you down (camomile) or energizes you (ginseng). Some herbal teas contain flavinoids that have effects like diuresis, so make sure you check if they are ok for you in case you have specific health conditions.
From Frank McKinney, "Maverick Real Estate Developer of Multi-Million Dollar Beachfront Properties" "Many have emailed or sent letters over the years asking what prayers I pray regularly. While I have quite a few, below are some that sit adjacent my desk in my oceanfront treehouse office: * Saint Paul to the Philippians: Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you. * Lord, may everything we do begin with your inspiration, continue with your help, and reach perfection under your guidance. We ask this through our lord Jesus Christ, you Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit. * I tell you solemnly, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours, says the Lord. * And finally form the Gospel of Luke: Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more demanded of the person entrusted with more. Juice Makes You Happy One of the best - and juiciest - ways to be happy is to drink freshly-made juices that are loaded with the life force of plants. Fresh fruit juice is rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes and energizing natural fruit sugars. In case you get bored drinking the same concoctions every day, experiment with different mixes. Green apple goes well with watermelon. Orange and carrot juice is one of my favorites. Grape, apricot, passion fruit, cucumber, beetroot and tomato are other juices to add to your cocktail. And to add another element of flavor and taste, mix it with milk, soy, or yoghurt and make yourself a smoothie. Don't add too much extra sugar. Don't overdo it and drink a tankful. Juicing yourself up judiciously can keep you happy!

Can a Glass of Water Make You Happy? The cure to your blues could be as simple and cheap as a glass of water. Yes, I mean drinking water can make you happy! Water is necessary for the smooth functioning of just about every single body process. Yet most of us don't drink enough water every day. If you aim to drink at least eight to ten glasses of water daily, there will be a noticeable difference. Drinking adequate amounts of water can prevent headaches from dehydration. The water flushes out toxins and plumps up cells. You may not like the idea of drinking plain water. You can make it a bit more exciting by adding a slice of orange or lemon, a sliver of ginger or a sprig of mint. Your water needs will vary depending on the place you live, local weather conditions and any health conditions you have. There is no 'normal' value for how many glasses of water you need - but if you show any signs of dehydration, try drinking a bit more water... and be happy!
From Willie Crawford, "Willie Crawford Blogs" Get Out Of Self To Be Happy In a recent Internet marketing coaching sessions with a client, she turned the tables on me. She asked me if I were happy doing what I did. I quickly realized that her real question was am I happy in general. Without hesitation, I answered yes. I have been VERY happy for a while now. My life is full of joy, love and serenity. My secret is that I make a concerted effort to focus on others. I begin each day, by asking God to allow me to be of maximum use to him and my fellow man that day. Then I live that day as someone who has prayed that prayer. When I turn my attention and efforts to helping other, I get out of self-pity. The little things that go wrong with my plans seem to matter less. When I focus on someone else, I am actually more successful because I HAVE to be more successful in order to better help them. When I'm on the verge of feeling sorry for myself, I remember the saying "I felt sorry because I had not shoes, until I met the man who had no feet." Being happy is easy... just stop focusing on yourself... and focus on being of service to others.

That's why, even if you are in a rush, don't skip breakfast. An energizing breakfast lowers the chance of a mid-morning slump. A king-sized healthy breakfast can keep you going until late in the day. Some ideas for a power-breakfast: - Unsweetened fruit juices (citrus fruits are rich in Vitamin C) - A bowl of whole grain fiber-rich cereal or muesli with milk - A slice of wholemeal or granary toast spread with low-fat butter or margarine, or natural peanut butter or yeast extract That made me hungry - got to run and fix myself a snack!
From Anna Johnson, "Self Improvement Newsletter" My number one tip for being happy is to choose your best possible metaphor for life. What's your "metaphor for life"? Well, when you think about life... and YOUR life in particular... what metaphor comes to mind? Do you see life as... a struggle? As some kind of contest or competition? Or do you see life as, say, a wander through a beautiful garden? Where there's no beginning or end... no pressure... just abundance, peace and harmony? You see, how you view life will almost certainly affect how happy you are. If you see life as some kind of struggle... it probably will be. You'll likely view everything you do - and everything that happens to you - in the context of that struggle. It's almost inevitable that you'll expect the main feature of your life to be PAIN. On the other hand, if you see life as a stroll through a garden or a "walk in the park" you would expect - and will likely experience - a life that's predominately enjoyable, despite the occasional stumble. Or perhaps there's another "life metaphor" that appeals to you more. The point is, your metaphor for life will have a big impact on your happiness... so choose one that serves you, and brings you happiness... not one that detracts from it.

Relax Taut Muscles & Feel Happy Whenever you are feeling stressed or anxious, your body reacts by cording up your muscles into knots. You feel the pain in your neck, arms, back and belly. Practice simple relaxing exercises that you can do anywhere, and you can beat the stress and get back to feeling great again. Alternately tense and relax all major muscle groups in your body. Start with your feet and work your way up the legs, buttocks, spine, shoulders, arms, hand, chest and abdomen. Finally, tense and relax the muscles of your neck, head and face. Focus your attention on the sensations between tension and relaxation. Feel your body unwind, as tense taut muscles lose their stress - and making you feel happy as they relax.
From Rob Toth, "Want $270 from me? Click here to learn about my 27th Birthday game" A little over a decade ago, I wrote a research essay for a national young-writer's contest on the topic of stress (which was later featured in Future Health as one of the finalists). I picked 'stress' as a topic to write about then for the same reason I picked it today - because so many do such a poor job managing it (or, better yet, eliminating it). It's well worth your investment to grab a copy of 'How to Stop Worrying and Start Living' by Dale Carnegie. I first listened to this (in audio format) about 3 years of ago. Much of it was review for me because of how I already approach life. But it was welcomed review. Let me give you the 'Rob Toth's 2-Rule System to Eliminate Stress' 1)If you CAN'T do anything about the thing that you're worrying/stressing about - then stop worrying about it as it won't change the outcome. 2) If you CAN do something about the thing that you're worrying about - then stop worrying and instead go and do that thing to change the outcome. Whether it's in business or your personal life, follow those two rules. It wil enable you to focus on the NOW rather than worry about the past and situations that are entirely out of your control. Imagine that all that is good in your life (those you love, the things that make you happy, the successes you've enjoyed) is locked in a vault in the basement of your house. Every time you foolishly allow stress to control you, it‚s about the same as allowing a burglar into that precious vault of yours to grab as much of the joy from your life as he wants before you finally decide to chase him out and shut the doors again (until the next time you start worrying). Why are you still allowing 'stress' to steal from you? Rob Toth

Happiness is a Scented Bath Pamper yourself with a relaxing bath, scented with soothing herbs. Camomile, lavendar, lime flowers and passion flower are all good choices. Steep the herbs in hot water. Strain. Let the liquid cool and add it to your bath. You may also wrap them in muslin cloth and hang it from the running tap so water runs through it as it fills your bath. Lie back, relax for 20 minutes, and then dry yourself - then off to bed for a relaxing nap. Mmm.... just thinking about it makes me happy!
From Adrian Ling, Internet Business Made Easy" "How To Be Happy - All The Time" If you say, "Are you kidding me? How can one possibly be happy all the time?" Try this: "Count your blessings!" Look around you - what can you give thanks for? Do you have a family that loves you? Do you have food on the table? Roof over your head? Clothes on your body? Can you walk? Can you see rainbows? Do you have friends? Count your blessings and be thankful. (remember this phrase?: "I complained I had no shoes until I saw a man with no feet") Sure, there will be times when the pressures of life and work gets you down ... But if you will take a moment, and count your blessings, it WILL make a difference. "Be Happy - and do your part to make the world a happier place!" Best wishes,

Dance - You'll Feel Great Maybe you plan to learn dancing at school. Or dream of becoming an accomplished dancer. That's fine. But even if you don't care much for dancing, it's good for an instant cheer. So turn on your music player, pop in your favorite music, and just get moving! Play a tune with a strong rhythm and fast beat. Let your body move to the music. Twist. Bend. Spin. Jump. Do whatever feels good. You don't have to follow specific steps. Just keep moving - that's the big thing. When you're tired, stop and lie down for a few moments. Slow down your heart beat and enjoy the joyous contented feeling that floods your body and soul.
From Pearson Brown, Self Help Tips" The last couple of years for me have been quite tough. My marriage, my offline business and my health all failed in different ways. However, you wouldn't know it to look at me. I remain a resolutely positive and happy person. Why? Because I live in the present. It's far too easy to go back over your life, regretting what went wrong. My philosophy is to look at what I did wrong, think about how to avoid doing that again and then to move on. It's also far too easy to spend your time worrying about the future. For many of us the future is very uncertain. If you spend too much time thinking about it, you will feel unhappy. Don't let your legitimate concerns spoil the happiness you are feeling today. One of the happiest people I ever met was the late Mike Blacktopp. Mike had health problems throughout his adult life and died a pretty horrible death through Motor Neurone Disease. Yet he remained happy until the end. His motto was "Today is a good day because I'm still alive." That's a philosophy that can make any of us happy.

Press Your Happy Point We all have 'happy points'. At least that's what the acupressure gurus say! Try this and see if it works for you - many others claim it does, and you just may be blown away. Find the acupressure point in the fleshy part of your hand, between your thumb and forefinger. Press firmly down on it with the ball of your thumb, or the tips of your fingers. After holding it down for around 20 seconds, let go slowly and gently. Wait for 10 seconds, and then repeat the move. Do this up to 5 times. Does it make you happy?
From Rick Beneteau, Why Peace is Now Possible" I want to share something that has created much inner peace and happiness in my life. Something I do when I'm feeling a little down or discouraged. I call it "a blessings count." I retreat to a private place, nice and quiet. I close my eyes and just begin thinking of all the wonderful people from my past and present that I have been fortunate to have to come to know. Images of my beautiful daughters and my grandsons come rushing to the fore. Great memories of my late father and brother and sister also flood in as do recollections of my wonderful friends, so many of them. Sometimes I reflect back to all the low points in my life and soon I'm reveling in the great feeling that I was able to pick myself up, and move forward from those times. I did it before, so I know I can do it again this time. It isn't long before my mood is brighter and I'm again grateful for the people in my life, the opportunities I have, the talents I possess and the countless gifts I've received in my life. The next time that you are feeling down or discouraged, try a blessings count. You'll discover your life is truly blessed.

Play Happy Music Music you like and enjoy is therapeutic. It can make you forget worries and troubles. It can instantly change your mood from sad to happy, from worried to relaxed, from anxious to calm. What music to play? Whatever you like. In fact, you may find by trial and error that certain kinds of music make you feel differently. So pick the tune that's best for your mood. And that means you must first pause and figure out how you're feeling right now - and how you'd like to feel instead. Then select a type of music that'll get you there, mood-wise. If you don't already have one, get yourself a music player (iPods work well if you're always on the move, car stereos if you drive around a lot). Then get yourself a wide assortment of music - instrumental, vocal, across multiple genres, so you have one for any time.
From Quentin Brown, Create Your Own Blogging Empire" Discover how you can deliver your messages with a 100% delivery guarantee, and make your Autoresponder messages spam-proof by using the hottest new delivery method! Many businesses already use email Autoresponders to deliver messages over a period of time to customers and clients. An Autoresponder allows you to set up a number of sequential messages to be sent at predetermined times. Unfortunately many ISP and hosting companies now block these so the chance of your message getting through is diminishing at a rapidly increasing rate. Businesses are now realizing that they can accomplish the same task using an RSS Autoresponder and get 100% delivery rate. RSS is the new Buzz word even though it has been around for a while. This is because initially RSS was used simply to deliver news headlines and a few sentences. Today people and businesses have realized that they can use feeds to deliver multiple pages of content per feed. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into a feed and can be syndicated via RSS: articles, sermons, training or coaching, product updates and we have even seen one person deliver a chapter of his book each week. Once information about each item is in RSS format, you can add it to your website, blog or deliver to a web based reader or desktop software. Now many mobile phones and hand held devices allow for reading of feeds and all this from one simple address. This makes it much more powerful than email. The beauty of providing your visitors with RSS feeds is that it will update on a regular basis thereby providing them with fresh content everyday. For the Heart Kids Blogathon I have arranged for the company RSS Response to give you a free campaign with unlimited documents for you to play with. You will also find on their site a free Wordpress pluging that will let you post your autoresponder messages right inside your blog. They also have a lot of free content you can also post into your blog. Just go to this website and sign up as an affiliate and they will give you your free campaign and you can also make 25% residual commission on any sales you make.

Stretch & Grow Happy Limbering up your muscles can make you feel happy. It will lift your spirits and make you feel great. To begin stretching, lift your arms and try and reach out as high as you can above your head with your fingertips. Next, shrug your shoulders up and down. Then clasp your hands behind your back to release tension in your shoulder muscles. Open your mouth and inhale deeply. This series of movements loosens up tense muscle groups, delivers more oxygen to your brain, and stimulates the production of endorphins (the 'happy hormone').

Breathe Deeply, Feel Happy For an action we perform every day, automatically, when we are both awake and asleep, we hardly ever think about breathing! Yet, the simple act of breathing can make you happy. Stand or sit comfortably. Place one hand over your abdomen, the other over your chest. Take a nice deep breath through your nose. Pull your abdomen in as you release the breath, slowly and evenly. If your chest is moving more than your stomach, you are not breathing correctly. Practice this simple exercise for happiness every day - and feel your life change, become more enjoyable, and less stressful. It's a nice exercise to lower stress when things suddenly seem to creep up on you in the middle of the day. Take a short time-out, and breathe deeply... and feel happy!

Sleep and Be Happy Too many of us ignore the powerful benefits of sleep. In a rushed, fast-paced world, we view sleep as a 'waste' of time, not knowing it has the power to make you extremely effective and hyper-productive, not to mention happy. With a refreshing night's sleep of 6 to 8 hours, you are more likely to begin the day feeling happy and positive. You'll think clearly and feel confident. Even your immune system becomes more powerful with good sleep! So how to ensure you sleep well? Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Don't drink coffee, tea or other stimulating drinks close to bedtime. Keep your sleeping area clean, clear and ventilated. If you can't fall asleep, get up and do something quiet and relaxing for a while - don't just lie there fretting and worrying about NOT being able to sleep!

Exercise Will Make You Happy A modest amount of daily exercise is an excellent tonic - not just for your body, but also for your mind. Endorphins, a special kind of chemical that makes you feel happy, are released into your brain when you exercise. You feel good, more energetic, hapier. Serotonin is one such 'happy hormone' that gets released by exercise. And 'exercise' doesn't have to mean rushing to buy a membership at the neighborhood gym. It could be something as simple as taking the steps instead of the staircase, or walking to the grocery store instead of driving the short distance. To join you on these energizing walks, you can ask a spouse or child or pet to tag along, giving you an emotional high that matches the physical one. Soon you'll feel great, be happy - and the exercise will keep you fit and healthy too. (Note - this does NOT apply if you have a health condition that makes exercise risky... please check with your doctor before starting an exercise program)

Be Happy By Seeing The Bigger Picture In a little ebook called "The Emotion Prism", I explained a simple 3-step process to view things in proper perspective, to relieve stress and find happiness from within. The key is to see the big picture. Avoid making mountains out of molehills. Ups and downs are an integral part of life. We all face them and deal with them. By blowing things up out of proportion, we add stress to our lives - and in all reality, what's obsessing our thoughts today will fade into insignificance a year from now - or maybe even a week later! Keep a solid head on your shoulders. Stay with the right perspective. Remember that in most cases, it isn't important in the grand scheme of things. That will guarantee you feel happy all the time.

Know Where You're Going - It Will Make You Happy If you don't know where you're going, how will you know when you get there - or even if you already are there? Most people who are frustrated and dissatisfied with their lives are like that because of an aimless lack of direction. It's a wierd feeling to be stumbling through every day, without a plan or focus or dream to achieve. You can change that today by making a plan. Keep it realistic. Spend an hour or two writing down a set of goals on a sheet of paper or in a notebook. Do two sets - one for the long term, the other for the short term. Start with the short term goals. Break it down into a short list of action steps to take every day. Display your list where you can see it all the time. Then start working on the first thing on your list. The focus, sense of purpose and guided action will make you feel great and be happy.

Take inspiration from the lives of others. Dream about becoming like them. But don't compare yourself to others, to your detriment. You are unique. Special. Different. Yes, nothing. Just sit down. Or stop and stare. Do this 2 or 3 times every day, for a brief while. It will help you recharge run down mental batteries. It will help you refocus your attention and energy on the important things. It will give you a chance to come to terms with the things that are happening all around you, without feeling overwhelmed and out of control. And once your mood is once again restored to one of happy contentment, get back to work with renewed energy and enthusiasm. That's one of my keys to being happy all day!

And meditation brings you inner peace, which will make you happy. If you have never tried meditation before, you're in for a pleasant surprise. Sitting still, controlling your breathing, relaxing your body, while you focus your mind and attention completely upon one thing only... that's what gets your mind into a state of relaxed concentration. Meditation has numerous health benefits. Stress levels drop. Blood pressure becomes normal. Your breathing and heart rate slow down. You'll be more relaxed. You'll be happy, feel great. Meditation is the perfect cure for stress - and will make you happy.

Learn To Say "No" - And Be Happy It's strange, but true - learning to say 'No' can make you happy. Say 'No' to the unhappy people, events and circumstances in your life. Are you involved in something that's adding stress, taking you away from your goals, crushing your dreams? Say 'No' to it... and stop it destroying your happiness. Are there people in your life who are negative, insulting, depressing? Say 'No' to their influence on your happiness - and be happy in spite of them. You don't have to be harsh, insulting or rude when you say 'No' - just be assertive and firm about it, though, so that the other person hears the definiteness of your message. Indeed, you'll often be surprised just how often your assertiveness generates a new respect for you - because you are now taking control, and making a choice to be happy!

It's your call. You can send your happiness levels soaring by deliberately deciding to have a good day today. This means, no matter what happens to you today, you decide to be happy. That way, you are no longer reacting to what others do, say or think. You are not placing yourself at the mercy of situations. Instead, you are being proactive about choosing to be happy. You are consciously picking the option to be happy. By practicing this attitude consistently, you'll be surprised just how happy you feel, how great your life suddenly becomes.

Get Out of Your Rut - And Be Happy Routine dulls what little excitement is there in many lives. Break that - and be different. Change some rules. Break others. Don't be a slave to rituals and sequences. You can get started with simple, easy changes. Take a different route to work. Take off your shoes and walk on the grass for a minute. Dye your hair a different color. Or you could be more ambitious. Phone up a travel agency and book yourself on a surprise trip to a strange country you've never visited before. Or go on a blind date. Or pick up a book in your library in a genre you've never tried before, and read it tonight. Taking small risks, breaking the shackles of a boring routine and doing things differently are all guaranteed to make you happy. Try it out. After all, fortune favors the brave!

Organize Your Life & Feel Happy Too often, your schedule determines whether or not you are happy! If things are easy, relaxing, on time, you feel more comfortable, calm and happy. But when you're running behind, trying to play catch up with a growing list of urgent things that must get done right away, stress creeps in and destroys happiness. The trick is to plan ahead. Don't put things off to the very last moment, when you are forced to rush to get them done. Anticipate trouble spots before they show up, and prepare to handle them when they happen. It may mean waking up a half hour earlier. It may mean staying at the office an extra hour at the end of the day. It may be refusing to accept an invitation or turning down an offer. But if you stay focused on the important things, get rid of the clutter, and plan your day in advance - while having solutions for potential problems - you can get through each day feeling happy and great.

Tell Yourself You Really ARE Happy You believe whatever you hear, think and read constantly. If you carry a negative self-image, one ridden with doubts and uncertainties about yourself, it's harder to be happy. But you can get yourself happy by practicing powerful positive affirmations. Give your mind positive feedback. Use short phrases and quotes that reinforce a sense of well-being and happiness. Here's one example - tell yourself this: "When I smile, I feel happy - and that makes people I meet, even strangers, happy so they too smile back at me... and I'm making the world around me a happier place" It works - and it's true. Try framing many more affirmations. Explain the actions you take, and how they make you feel, as well as what impact they have on people, events and circumstances. By constant repetition, your brain will accept and believe these positive affirmations, and you'll find yourself being happy most of the time.

Dream VIVIDLY About Being Happy All too often, we have WEAK dreams about being happy. Make those dreams come alive, have power and impact. Don't just hope to lose weight - dream of shedding the pounds so that you look gorgeous, and turn heads as you sashay down the street! Don't just imagine yourself pumping some iron - visualize yourself as a muscular hunk that grabs the attention of beautiful women when you're on the beach! It's good to set realistic, achievable goals. But it's even better to let your imagination fuel the dreams and take you where you want to go. The more colorful and vibrant your imagination, the more energized and motivated you will be to make it happen. And that will make you happy!

Be Happy By Thinking Happy! A lot of being happy is in your mind. Yes, just by THINKING about being happy, you can actually be happy. It's called 'creative visualization'. Try it. Sit down in a quiet place. Close your eyes. Imagine yourself doing something wonderfully exciting, energetic, fun. Think about yourself sailing on a gentle breeze over a quiet lake, or running barefoot across a grassy meadow, or dancing to a catchy beat. The Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation has raised a little over $84,000 and funded 22 heart surgeries until now, with many more to follow. To everyone, including you, who helped with the event over the years, I send you my heart-felt gratitude. You are special - and it is my honor to count you among my growing list of friends. Good judgment. Long-term relationships that lead to trust. None of these things guarantee loyalty in the face of cut-rate competition, though. So to that list I'll add this: an insanely low-cost structure based on outsourcing everything except your company's insight into what your customers really want to buy." If I had drafted out my new 'Dr.Mani-FESTO' document after reading this post, it would have almost seemed as if I re-worded Seth's thoughts - but as it happens, I read the blog post only 3 days AFTER - and was startled at the congruence.
